UNIZIK Launches Investigation into Alleged Lecturer-Student Incident

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has initiated a full-scale investigation into an incident involving Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level student in the Department of History and International Studies.

The situation, which has drawn significant attention on social media, is being treated with the utmost seriousness by the university authorities.

In a statement issued by the Acting Head of Information and Public Relations, Njelita Louis O., the institution reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and justice in handling the matter.

“In line with our core values of discipline, self-reliance, and excellence, and in adherence to the principles of fair hearing, equity, and justice, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has ordered a full-scale, transparent, and unbiased investigation into the matter,” the statement read.

The university appealed for calm from all parties and the public while investigations are ongoing, assuring that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings.

“Nnamdi Azikiwe University remains an institution of learning that upholds high moral and ethical standards. There is no place for indiscipline, misconduct, or any form of unacceptable behaviour within our community,” the statement added.
