A UK-based Nigerian woman, Mkpouto Pius, has pledged to help the expelled Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) student secure a scholarship abroad following the controversy surrounding her altercation with a lecturer.
Pius made this known after a new video surfaced, showing another angle of the incident that led to the student’s expulsion. She stated that she had personally reached out to the student and found that her family fully supports her and that she is handling the situation well, contrary to public assumptions.
Revealing her offer to assist the student in finding a scholarship overseas, Pius shared details of their conversation. According to her, after discussing the opportunity with her parents, the student received their full approval to explore the scholarship offer.
In a series of statements, Pius criticized the university’s handling of the case, alleging that UNIZIK officials have since been urging the student to apologize in exchange for reinstatement.
“The university knows that their lecturer harassed that girl, that’s why they are trying so hard to save face. They are insisting that all she needs to do is release a public video apologizing, and they will take her back,” she stated.
She further disclosed that the student’s parents have refused to allow her to apologize, rejecting the institution’s attempt to make it seem like she was at fault.
Pius expressed support for legal action, arguing that the university should be held accountable for its response to the incident.
“This would be the perfect opportunity to lawyer up and sue that school! Because that school definitely knows they have messed up by supporting the harassment of a student captured on tape,” she wrote.
The controversy has sparked nationwide debate, with many calling for a review of the expulsion and a fair reassessment of the case.
Response to “UK-Based Nigerian Lady Offers Scholarship Assistance to Expelled UNIZIK Student”
I weep for the future that we are destroying with our hearts and hands by encouraging indiscipline. This lady wants to prove she knows better than the whole university. Which student was harassed? How? No one can intimidate the university because it’s governed by rules and regulations. There sanctions for breaking the law. Let her go and enjoy her wuruwuru scholarship anywhere . She is deficient in character.
