A 48-year old teacher of Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 9 year old female student sexually in the school.

The father of the girl, Mr Adebisi Arewa went to a police station at Illupeju to report the teacher who he alleged defiled his daughter. Although, he did not give details of how the incident occurred, The Police then arrested and later transferred the accused to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.

However, the child has confessed to the police over three times that the lie was falsified by her father stating that nothing like that happened.

The father of the child is also known for putting innocent people in prison for the same offence including his former driver who got a life imprisonment sentence for it, amongst others who have been jailed for the same offence.

Sources report that the man refused to present the child for forensic investigation as ordered by the police on two different occasions.

It has also been reported said that his wife ran away from him and left her children behind due to problems with the accuser.

The accused, Mr Bakare Adewale who has decried his innocence, has been a teacher for 21 years and was one time a principal of an International school where he worked for 10 years before joining Methodist Girls High school where he has served for the past 11 years.

This current case has led his wife to premature labour and the baby is still in hospital, while the wife that gave birth due to pre-eclampsia is now being managed for high blood pressure following the news of her husband’s arrest.

The accused, Mr Bakare Adewale is currently sitting in kirikiri maximum prison waiting for the next hearing which is set for the 19th of May.
