There is palpable fear and tension at Rivers State University, Port Harcourt after a student was shot dead at a cafeteria on Thursday morning.

It was leant that a group of suspected cultists had trailed the victim to a cafeteria near the faculty of management science about 9:20 am, where one of the assailants brought out a gun and shot the unidentified student in the head.

An eyewitness said,” He died on the spot and the situation caused serious panic. Students and people started running helter-skelter and we are writing exams now.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Harcourt Whyte, confirmed the incident.

“Those guys have been arrested and the police are investigating,” he said
