In a shocking revelation, a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) student from Akwa Ibom has disclosed how she was forced into prostitution, sleeping with 12 to 20 men daily for as little as ₦1,000 per session.
Allaboutschools correspondent gathered that this harrowing account came to light after the Amotekun Corps busted a sex trafficking syndicate in Ogun State, rescuing several victims, including the young girl.
The victim, who was lured from Akwa Ibom with the promise of working as a salesgirl, recounted her traumatic experience.
“They brought me here, saying I would work as a salesgirl. But when I arrived, they gave me drugs, cut my hair, and threatened to kill me if I tried to escape,” she said.
The girl revealed that her trafficker, Mrs. Edem Joy, warned her that her hair would be used for rituals to harm her if she ever tried to run away.
Mrs. Edem Joy, who was arrested alongside her alleged boss, Mrs. Okutoro Yemisi, 60, reportedly lured young girls from Akwa Ibom, Calabar, and Delta State, with most victims coming from Akwa Ibom.
The syndicate forced the girls to swear oaths of secrecy using their blood, hair, or even a Bible, binding them to silence and compliance.
“They made us swear never to confess or run away,” the victim added.
The traffickers allegedly used a combination of drugs and charms to control the girls, dispatching them to various hotels with the false promise of freedom after one year.
“They told us they would let us go after a year and give us a phone and a box of clothes,” the 14-year-old revealed. However, the girls were forced to surrender all their earnings, ranging from ₦1,000 to ₦5,000 per session, to Mrs. Edem.
Disturbingly, the girls disclosed that their traffickers collected tissues used by clients for ritual purposes.
“They made sure we submitted the tissues after every session,” one of the victims said. The youngest among the rescued girls was just 12 years old.
Authorities acted on an anonymous tip received, leading to the arrest of the suspects at Railway Line Hotel, Old Bank Bus Stop, in Ifo town.
During the raid, lubricants, drugs, cash, and charms were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
