The Federal Government has advised its 110 Federal Government Colleges otherwise known as Unity Colleges, to reform its method of teaching and learning in order to ensure delivery of quality education in line with global best practices.
The government also promised to address the administrative bottlenecks which had resulted in dilapidated furniture and unfinished projects in Unity Colleges.
Among the administrative challenges that would be addressed include poor management and leadership style, inadequate classrooms, staff, and students indiscipline.
Other issues are inadequate number of qualified teachers, inadequate staff welfare, poor academic performance, and inadequate funding.
The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, stated this in his keynote address delivered at the 2020 Annual General Meeting of principals of Federal Unity Colleges in Abuja.
It was titled, ‘Restructuring our education system to suit our challenging times.’
