Oriwu Senior Model College Student, Abdul Azeez AbdulRahmon, Becomes Lagos State One Day Governor, Visits Lagos House, Marina

Abdul Azeez AbdulRahmon, a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, assumed the role of Lagos State One Day Governor, following his victory as the Overall Winner of the 20th Edition of the Spelling Bee Competition.

This event culminated in a visit to the Lagos House, Marina.

Accompanying Abdul Azeez in this ceremonial role were Master Oki Sewanu, the One Day Deputy Governor and a student of Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior Grammar School, Badagry, along with Miss Saheed Alimot-Odere, the One Day Secretary to the State Government from Jubilee Model Senior Grammar School, Coker Aguda.

During the proceedings, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the students for their remarkable achievements in the competition.

She emphasized the significant impact of the Spelling Bee in enhancing students’ confidence and vocabulary, ultimately equipping them to become more effective communicators.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu also took the opportunity to highlight various initiatives spearheaded by her office, including the War Against Drug Abuse, Fight Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, the Lagos Boy Child Initiative, and the School Support Initiative, among others.

These programmes aim to foster a supportive and nurturing environment for the youth in Lagos State.

In her concluding remarks, the First Lady urged the students to persist in their academic endeavors, reassuring them of the government’s commitment to providing an enriching educational environment.

She emphasized the importance of continuous efforts towards academic success.

The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, as well as Mrs. Anike Adekanye, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, and officials from the Office of Education Quality Assurance, among other prominent government representatives.
