A 17 year old Nigerian teenager named Prosperity Olorunfemi has been granted the license to host a prestigious TEDX conference in Nigeria.

TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events.

These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities. More than 3000 events are now held annually all over the world.

The 17 year old student of Ekiti State University shared the feat on his LinkedIn page:

“I got a notification that I’ve been granted the license to organize TEDx Jibowu. Having tried once and failed, I gave it just another shot and getting the affirmative result last night, I can’t believe that I finally have gotten the opportunity to bring the TEDx movement here. The only word I understand right now is Thank you”

The details for the TEDX Jibowu conference would be announced later.
