In a bid to prioritize the health and well-being of its workforce, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) recently hosted a Health Awareness Program at its headquarters. This initiative reflects LASUBEB’s ongoing commitment to nurturing a healthy, efficient workforce as an essential component of its service excellence.
The event featured expert-led sessions on critical health topics, including stress management, work-life balance, proper nutrition, and physical fitness. Staff participated in interactive workshops and hands-on demonstrations, such as ergonomic practices and time management strategies aimed at reducing stress.
Speaking on behalf of the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, Mrs. Abimbola Vaughan emphasized the importance of employee welfare. “Our workforce is the backbone of this institution. By investing in your health, we are not only improving individual well-being but also enhancing our collective efficiency and impact,” she said.
In addition to educational sessions, the program provided free health screenings for staff, covering blood pressure, glucose levels, and BMI.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa Ayodeji, a facilitator from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), highlighted the significance of mental health, urging staff to seek help when needed and to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
She encouraged participants to prioritize their well-being, advising them to utilize available resources instead of overburdening themselves.
