The Federal Government has announced the disbursement of funds aimed at settling outstanding salaries for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities (NASU) and providing retirement benefits for retirees enrolled in the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme.
This development was confirmed in an official statement issued on Saturday by Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).
The statement revealed that payments to NASU members have already commenced, with numerous recipients expressing gratitude for the timely financial relief.
“The Federal Government has released funds for the payment of withheld salaries to Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities,” the statement noted, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to addressing the financial needs of its educational workforce.
Additionally, the OAGF highlighted that funds have been earmarked for the distribution of retirement benefits to former workers under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector.
The swift action taken by the government reflects a commitment to enhancing the welfare of both current employees and retirees, ensuring that their service to the nation is duly recognized and compensated.
