Expelled UNIZIK Student Begs for Forgiveness, Lecturer Accepts Apology but University Upholds Expulsion

Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) student expelled for assaulting Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, has publicly apologized to the lecturer, seeking his forgiveness and that of the institution.

Accompanied by her parents, siblings, and well-wishers, Precious visited Dr. Okoye to express deep remorse over her actions. She reportedly broke down in tears during the visit, while the lecturer, in an unexpected display of kindness, comforted her and assured her of his forgiveness.

Her father clarified that the visit was not an attempt to reverse the university’s disciplinary decision but a sincere effort to make amends. However, despite the heartfelt apology, UNIZIK’s disciplinary committee has reaffirmed its decision to uphold her expulsion.

University officials maintained that the punishment was necessary to uphold discipline, deter future misconduct, and protect the institution’s reputation. The case has sparked discussions on student conduct and the consequences of violence on campus.
