The Basic Education in Nigeria Bootcamp (BEN-B) Summit 2024 has ignited fresh hope for transforming Nigeria’s foundational education sector.
Held under the theme of inclusive education, the summit brought together education policymakers, stakeholders, and visionaries to tackle pressing challenges in basic education and forge solutions for a brighter future.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a keynote speaker at the event, emphasized the importance of inclusivity in education, stating, “‘Abilities in disabilities’ – inclusive education is key to unlocking every child’s potential. Let’s ensure no child is left behind.” His message underscored the need for equitable access to education for all children, regardless of physical or socioeconomic barriers.
Addressing the audience, education advocate Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad Said remarked, “Our children deserve not just education, but an education that equips them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.” She called for enhanced infrastructure, improved learning outcomes, and strategic collaboration to address systemic gaps.
Speakers at the summit highlighted the multifaceted approach required to tackle challenges like poverty, unsafe learning environments, and insufficient resources. One notable statement captured the urgency of this mission: “The journey to inclusive education demands addressing poverty, improving safety, and fostering collaboration. Together, we can make quality education accessible to every Nigerian child.”
The summit also echoed the fundamental principle that education is a universal right. “Quality education is a right, not a privilege. Let’s work together to create a future where every Nigerian child, regardless of background, thrives through education,” a speaker emphasized, inspiring the audience.
As discussions concluded, the BEN-B Summit reinforced the idea that collective action and innovative solutions are indispensable for reshaping Nigeria’s basic education system. “Education is the passport to a better tomorrow. By fostering collaboration and innovative solutions, we can transform Nigeria’s basic education system for the better,” an attendee said, encapsulating the spirit of the event.
The 2024 BEN-B Summit stands as a call to action, urging Nigerians from all walks of life to invest in the future of the nation’s children through meaningful, inclusive reforms in basic education.
