On Tuesday 30th of March, the Governor of Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwoolu made good on his promise to give outstanding public school teachers cars.

I served on the committee that managed the entire process. It is on record that we had ZERO INTERFERENCE from Government officials; all they did was that they gave us the categories.

Primary school Teachers

Junior secondary school Teachers

Senior secondary school teachers

School leaders category

Vocational/Technical Education.

Congratulations to all the winners.

The entire award is part of a much bigger plan for the next 12months.

What made these teachers win?

What did they possess apart from certificates that made them impress the private sector-led team?

These are some of the things that they will be sharing with their mates across the state.

We received over 3,500 applications and we narrowed it down to 23finalists.

  • One thing was obvious, You cannot excel doing a job you despise.
  • You cannot be proud doing a job you dislike
  • You cannot go the extra mile on a job you MOAN about daily.
  • It is difficult to MOAN AND TEACH at the same time.

These teachers convinced us about the extras.

  • They showed us proof.
  • Testimonials from students
  • Testimonials from old students
  • Testimonials from peers.
  • Creative solutions to problems.

For some of them, there were special things they did during the pandemic. Don’t forget they serve poor communities where parents do not have access to data or devices. They had ingenious solutions that took them to student’s homes to drop assignments and monitor them.

For all of them…the extras made them special. Despite their personal challenges they chose to make the interest of their pupils/ students a priority.

For every one of us, love what you do or is it do what you love. Don’t moan and complain all the time. You can never be your best that way.

Thank you Gov Babajide Sanwoolu

Special kudos to the honourable Commissioner, our own Folasade Adefisayo

Big congratulations to all our Tutor Generals
