Lagos State Launches Eko Learners’ Support to Boost WAEC, NECO Success

The Lagos State Government has launched the Eko Learners’ Support programme, a tailored educational solution for students preparing for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) exams.

The programme was unveiled at the Education Resource Centre in Lagos, with the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, describing it as a transformative effort to elevate students’ performance across the state.

“This initiative is a comprehensive solution designed to boost students’ performance,” Alli-Balogun stated.

The Eko Learners’ Support programme features 320 lessons across 10 core subjects: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English, and Yoruba. Delivered by highly proficient teachers who underwent rigorous screening, the lessons are aligned with the Lagos State-approved Scheme of Work as well as the WAEC and NECO syllabuses, ensuring students receive curriculum-focused instruction.

“These lessons will be broadcast on Lagos Television and various social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), making them easily accessible,” the Commissioner added.

The lessons, each lasting 30 minutes, will air over a 26-week period and remain permanently archived on social media platforms, allowing students to revisit them at any time.

The initiative goes beyond traditional learning by fostering interaction among students, teachers, and peers, creating a dynamic and collaborative environment.

“The idea is to create a collaborative forum where learners and candidates energize one another to improve performance,” Alli-Balogun said, emphasizing the importance of community learning.

Urging students to maximize the opportunity, he advised: “Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance will be the keys to unlocking your dreams.”

This programme represents the Lagos State Government’s commitment to transforming education and empowering students to excel in their academic pursuits. The Eko Learners’ Support is poised to set a new benchmark for academic preparation in Nigeria.
