We must all rise up to save Education in Nigeria – CPE

The Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative (CPE) has called on Government, Industry Leaders, Parents and every concerned Nigeria to rise up and tackle the numerous problems facing the education sector.

In a Press statement signed by the founder of the group Mrs Yinka Ogunde as well as the National coordinator, Mrs Kemi Koleowo, it has become imperative for everyone to work together to create solutions.

The group cited some of the various challenging issues facing Education in Nigeria and stated that there would be no end if we do not become very intentional about creating long lasting solutions that will attack the problems from the root

Some of these are;
– Widespread examination malpractices
– Low quality of teachers
– The need for parents reorientation
– The urgent need for students reorientation

– Widespread use of drugs
– Lack of basic infrastructure
– Huge gap between the schools for the rich and the poor
– Widespread corrupt and illegal practices.

CPE called on Government to set up intervention strategies that will be effective as a matter of urgency.

The Concerned Parents and Educators a group with over 240,000 members online is now poised to establish chapters in 10 states. This the group members stated will help them to work more effectively with other groups to transform the education sector.
