Visually-Impaired Students among 380 Winners of N114m MTN Nigeria Scholarships

MTN Nigeria Foundation has announced the awarding of N114 million in scholarships to 380 exceptional students across Nigerian universities for 2024.

This generous initiative includes support for visually-impaired students and the top scorers of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The foundation celebrated this impactful venture with an award ceremony held in Abuja, where they also inducted 380 graduates into the MTN Scholarship Alumni Association. The scholarships are designed to support students from entry-level to their final year, with annual renewals contingent upon meeting further criteria.

Aishatu Sadauki, Director of MTN Nigeria Foundation, addressed the audience with an inspiring message about the foundation’s mission.

“The foundation has been driven by the thought and the belief that every individual, regardless of their backgrounds or socio-economic stages, can be a trailblazer, problem-solver, and visionary,” she stated.

Emphasizing the foundation’s commitment to the scholars, she added, “We are here to support you as you strive for academic excellence, and we will use every tool in our arsenal to do so.”

Addressing the scholarship recipients, Sadauki encouraged them to “build meaningful connections and gain the knowledge and skills you need to rise and give back to your society, you have shown that obstacles are not roadblocks, but detours that lead to greatness.” She reassured them, saying, “Remember, our Yello family believes in you and your ability to make a difference to the world around you.”

The event was graced by notable representatives, including Prof. Chris Piwuna, standing in for the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, and Basira Agbabiaka, representing the JAMB registrar.
