The University of Ilorin Students’ Union has announced crucial updates concerning the disbursement of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund).
This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that financial barriers do not hinder the academic pursuits of students at the university.
This comprehensive update follows a recent circular issued by the Registrar’s office, which meticulously outlined the necessary steps and requirements for students to secure their loans from the Bursary Office.
The circular is designed to streamline the process and ensure that students are well-informed about the procedural aspects involved in accessing the funds.
The students’ union has expressed its heartfelt gratitude towards the transparency and judicious management exhibited by the Tinubu-led administration, NELFund management, and the University Management.

This directive specifically targets students who applied for the NELFund during the 2022/2023 Academic Session and have successfully received their upkeep payment for the preceding month of August.
The students’ union has underscored the importance of a seamless refund process for these students, highlighting the essential documentation required to facilitate their requests.
To initiate a refund request, affected students are required to submit a formal letter addressed to the Bursar through the Dean of the Students’ Affairs Unit (SAU). The letter must be accompanied by:
- A copy of the previous session’s school fee receipt
- A copy of the upkeep payment receipt
- Detailed recipient account information for the upkeep payment refund
