Unilorin lecturer Dr. Imam-Fulani Wins “Young Investigator Award” at Global Neurodegenerative Conference

Dr. Aminat Omolola Imam-Fulani, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, has been honored with the “Young Investigator Award” at the recently concluded International Research Conference on Neurodegenerative Diseases (IRCND) held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

This accolade, awarded by the Global Association for the Study of Neurodegenerative Diseases (GASND), highlights her groundbreaking contributions to the field of neurodegenerative research.

The award ceremony, which took place between July 12 and 16, 2024, recognized Dr. Imam-Fulani for her exceptional research and presentation on the topic “Loss of Glyoxalase-1 Enhances Neuroinflammation and Neurodegeneration Independent of Abeta Pathology in APP/PSI Mice Model of Alzheimer’s Disease.”

Her innovative findings offer promising new avenues for developing and enhancing therapeutics aimed at the treatment and management of Alzheimer’s disease.

Currently, Dr. Imam-Fulani is furthering her research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Minnesota. Her work has garnered international attention and acclaim, positioning her as a leading figure in neurodegenerative disease research.

In response to her remarkable achievement, Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, extended his heartfelt congratulations.
