Philip Okafor, a Microbiology 200-level student at the University of Benin, has been awarded a Dean’s special reward for excellent behavior, which would free him from paying school fees for the remainder of his undergraduate studies.
The wallet’s owner is said to be a 200 level student of Environmental Management and Toxicology.
According to a statement signed by the Dean, Okafor discovered a wallet containing a significant amount of money that belonged to another student and, rather than taking the money for himself as many would have done, sought for the owner and returned the wallet with its contents intact.
This good deed was brought to the Dean’s attention who thanked Okafor for his exemplary behaviour and offered him unfettered access to the Dean’s office should there be any need for him to come.
