The University of Abuja has lost a renowned scholar, Professor Saint T. Gbilekaa.
This was announced in a statement issued by the institution via its Facebook page.
According to the announcement, Gbilekaa, a respected figure in dramatic theory and criticism, died on Tuesday August 20, 2024.
His death occurred at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) after a brief illness, as confirmed by the acting vice-chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, in a heartfelt email to the university community.
Professor Maikudi expressed the profound impact of Professor Gbilekaa’s contributions, stating, “The loss of Professor Gbilekaa is a profound one for the University of Abuja. His contributions extended well beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and practitioners in the field of theatre arts.”
