UniAbuja Acting VC Quells Kidnapping Rumours, Calls for Calm, Vigilance

In light of recent rumours circulating on social media regarding potential kidnapping threats on the University of Abuja campus, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, has addressed the university community, urging calm and continued vigilance.

“Though baseless, we take all security issues very seriously,” stated Professor Maikudi, emphasizing the university’s commitment to the safety of its students and staff.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor reassured the community that there is no credible threat at present, encouraging everyone to continue their daily activities without undue concern.

In her message, Professor Maikudi noted the importance of maintaining a heightened awareness of one’s surroundings, a practice that has become standard for the university community.

“Your safety is our priority, and it is important that we remain alert but not alarmed,” she affirmed, underscoring the balance between vigilance and normalcy.

The university has taken proactive steps to bolster its security measures, which include an increased presence of security personnel and vehicles on campus.

“Please note that this is part of a routine security procedure aimed at strengthening our overall security architecture,” Professor Maikudi clarified.

These security enhancements are part of regular operations conducted in cooperation with both military and other security agencies to ensure the enduring safety of the university environment.
