UI Set to Transform into Smart Campus with Blackboard Tools Initiative

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the institution into a Smart campus.

This ambition aligns with the university’s readiness to adopt the innovative Blackboard Tools initiative put forth by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

During a recent courtesy visit from a TETFund consultant, Professor Adebowale expressed enthusiasm about the potential of Blackboard Tools in enhancing educational delivery. “We will examine and assess the Blackboard Tools technology to see how it will fit into the educational activities of the University of Ibadan,” he stated after listening to a comprehensive presentation by the consultant.

Mr. Michael Adedeji Ladipo, the Country Director of Anthology, Blackboard, and Pole Global Marketing, highlighted the significance of the initiative. He explained that TETFund’s selection of Blackboard Tools aims to bridge the digital skills gap across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.

“The Blackboard Tools technology seeks to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning across the country,” Mr. Ladipo noted.

This initiative is designed to support the Federal Government’s vision of equipping tertiary institutions with essential tools that enhance the educational experience for students. The Blackboard Tools technology offers a comprehensive support system throughout the entire student journey—from registration to graduation—while simultaneously improving communication, academic efficiency, and overall learning outcomes.

Moreover, the user-friendly design of these tools ensures accessibility on various devices, including phones and tablets, making it easier for students and faculty to engage with the educational content.
