UI DLC Announces Date for Resumption

The University of Ibadan’s Distance Learning Centre (DLC) has officially announced that both new and returning students will resume their academic activities on September 2, 2024.

This significant date marks the continuation of the institution’s commitment to providing flexible, high-quality education through its innovative Open Distance eLearning (ODeL) platform.

Professor Babatunde Omobowale, the Director of the DLC, articulated the university’s dedication to accessible and affordable education.

He emphasized that the UI ODeL system offers a seamless blend of online and real-time learning experiences, allowing students to participate in live lectures from the comfort of their homes, workplaces, or any location that suits their needs.

This adaptable mode of learning is designed to cater to the diverse lifestyles and schedules of its learners, ensuring that quality education remains within reach for all.

“UI Open Distance eLearning is a game-changer in the educational landscape,” stated Professor Omobowale. “We are committed to making quality education accessible to everyone. Our flexible payment schemes and affordable tuition fees further reinforce our mission to democratize education.”

In an inclusive move, the DLC has opened its doors to students who scored below 200 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or those who did not sit for the UTME. These students now have the opportunity to enroll in various undergraduate programmes offered in the ODeL mode. The available programmes include BSc Computer Science, BSc Economics, BSc Sociology, BSc Psychology, BSc Political Science, BA Communications and Language Arts, Bachelor of Social Work, and Bachelor of Nursing Science, among others.

The University of Ibadan also extends a warm welcome to learners seeking inter-university transfers into its ODeL programmes.

Adhering to the university’s existing regulations, such students are required to submit a letter of interest along with their current transcripts from NUC-accredited programmes, irrespective of whether they are from private or public universities.

This initiative underscores the University of Ibadan’s resolve to adapt to the evolving educational needs of the 21st century, ensuring that academic excellence is not hindered by geographical or economic barriers. As the new academic session approaches, UI DLC remains committed to fostering an environment where education is not just a privilege but a readily accessible opportunity for all.
