UI Announces Three-Week Break, Exam Preparations for Students

In a recent internal memorandum from the Office of the Registrar, the University of Ibadan has officially announced the details surrounding the anticipated three-week break for students, approved by the Senate.

The memo, dated September 13, 2024, outlines key dates and expectations as students prepare to return to campus on September 20, 2024, following the break that commenced on August 31, 2024.

The Registrar, G.O. Saliu, emphasized the importance of adhering to the outlined guidelines as students transition back to academic activities.

According to the memorandum, “The hostels will be reopened for students from 12 noon on Friday 20 September, 2024.”

This reopening will allow students to settle in before the commencement of the first semester examinations.

The memo also highlights that the 2023/2024 first semester examinations are scheduled to begin on Monday, September 23, 2024. In preparation for these examinations, students are advised that the registration portal will close on Friday, September 20, 2024.

“There will be no re-opening of the portal for fee payment or course registration after 20 September, 2024,” the Registrar stresses, urging students to complete their registrations in a timely manner.

Furthermore, students must present evidence of their registration, specifically a printout confirming their status as bona fide students of the University of Ibadan, before being granted admission into the halls of residence.

The registrar clearly stated, “Students who do not register appropriately will not be allowed to write examinations.”

This memorandum serves as a critical reminder for both staff and students to ensure strict compliance with the outlined procedures to facilitate a smooth reopening of the university and the successful conduct of examinations.
