TASUED expels 25 students, suspends 58 others

Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has expelled 25 students and suspended 58 others for various offenses, including forgery, examination malpractices, and threats to life.

This sweeping disciplinary action, aimed at maintaining the institution’s standards, was detailed in a statement released by the University’s Registrar, Dapo Oke, on Tuesday.

The disciplinary measures were recommended by the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and subsequently approved by the University’s Senate during its statutory meeting on July 31, 2024.

“The Senate, at its Statutory meeting of 31st July 2024 has approved that Ojo Micheal, a 200-level student in the Computer Science Department be rusticated for the 2023/2024 Academic session for forgery of CGPA to contest Student Union Elections,” the statement read, highlighting the gravity of the offenses committed.

Among the expelled students, 17 faced sanctions for examination malpractice, five for threatening life, and one for engaging in fraudulent activities. Additionally, 47 students received indefinite suspensions for various misconducts, while another 10 were penalized for impersonation.

The university has issued a clear directive for the affected students to vacate the campus immediately, warning of potential confrontations with law enforcement and university security should they fail to comply.

“The affected students have been advised in their interest to stay off the Campus to avoid being embarrassed by the University Security Personnel,” Oke urged, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to a safe and honest academic environment.
