Children are the future of our society, they are change agents. On Thursday, 29th of July 2021, Students of Glory Ville School, Ebute Metta visited the Concerned Parents and Educators Network headquarters to give donations to the less privileged schools.
The young students donated stationeries, noodles, books and other educational materials. This act of generosity displayed by the students portrays them as change agents in society.
Yinka Ogunde, the CPE national coordinator welcomed the students and teachers to the headquarters. Addressing the students, she expressed her happiness seeing the children and appreciates them for coming together to contribute and donate to the less privileged.
She encouraged the students to continue to be of good behaviour because they are leaders of tomorrow. She appreciates them on behalf of CPE and is assured that the items will be distributed to the less privileged schools.
Receiving the gifts on behalf of CPE, the CPE National Coordinator, Yinka Ogunde, described the donation as a kind gesture and an attribute of good humanitarian service.
Wemimo Ogunde, a senior advocate of Nigeria, also appreciates the children for their donations. He hailed them for embracing the culture of saving and encourages them to continue because saving culture breeds wealth.
Ogunde in his address stated that “I appreciate you all for not depending on your parents alone for this donations” He further encouraged some of the students to become a lawyer because lawyers are relevant in the society, and they are the most brilliants set of people because almost all profession listens to lawyers. In his words “lawyers know the law and give direction to the society”
He advises the children not to spend all their time using their mobile phones and surfing the internet because it can be dangerous. He encouraged them to have a good relationship with their parents and they should also build a relationship with people by socializing.
According to Mrs Caroline Agbo, a teacher of the school, the donation starts three years ago and it is done by the outgoing class six students to help low-cost schools.
“We are here to donate to the less privileged school, every year class 6 outgoing students always have a project work, and this year they get charity funds and the money was used to get all these useful items,” she said.
According to her, ” We want to give out to the less privileged, the first time we were here, we were touched. So when this year came we went round to explained to the students the situation of some of those low-cost schools, so they can see it and know that it’s a privilege for them being in the position they are in today and also help the needy”.
She added, “CPE is a great group, I don’t know about other groups but I have learnt a lot from this group, I have learnt how to deal with individuals, students and colleagues in the education sector”.
Allaboutsschools also interviewed some students from Glory Ville School.
According to Lawal Samuel, 11 years old, “we are here to give stationeries and other things to the less privileged” He added that ‘I am excited saving for this project, my advice to other schools out there is that they should never give up on their dreams and they should also give to the less privileges”.
Another student of Glory Ville School, Okeke Sonkenechukwu encourages other schools out there to continue doing what they are doing as far as what they are doing is from their heart, God will bless them and as we are giving we will receive more.
