Social Media Group, CPE, in Conjunction With Local NGO, AFED, Visit And Donate to Low-Cost Schools In Lagos

Facebook group, Concerned Parents and Educators, (CPE), in partnership with local NGO, Association For Formidable Educational Development(AFED), take humanity to the streets of Lagos as they visited Low-Cost School in Mushin and Oshodi axis of the state.

The weather was favorable as the team led by Mrs.Yinka Ogunde, CPE and former president of AFED, Mrs. Dada Ifejola, touched down at the first school, Luksy Nursery & Primary School in the slumpy area of Mushin at Noon. The school owner, Mrs. Yemisi Yusuf was on hand to welcome the visiting parties, on entering the school’s academic area. Children sang in their popular welcome rhyme to the delight of the visiting team.

Mrs. Yinka Ogunde introduced herself and went straight to see children in their classrooms. she took pictures with the team and the children at the same time. It was time to present donations to the proprietor through the parents, everyone moved into another assigned area designated for this as they took pictures with parents while the proprietor received cash donations. Mrs. Yinka Ogunde in her little remark emphasized that the money was to take care of the selected children’s school fees for the term. The team then proceeded to its next point of contact.

More schools were visited in the Mushin area as the team, who were warmly welcomed by their host expressed delight, presented donations to proprietors through parents and emphasized the need to use the funds judiciously as it was meant to make sure that children take formal education. The team took pictures, it was the tradition throughout the visitation.

The team, enjoying the trip already, now moved on to Oshodi axis as they visited the school. They were equally welcomed and they went ahead to present more cash donations which were famous throughout the trip, the proprietors expressed excitement and parents thanked God for the donations, showering prayers on the team.

In all, the team visited six(6) schools; Luksy Nursery & Primary school, Filadek Private School, Tunji Victory Nursery and Primary school, Blemmavic Kiddies School, Cheliland school and Whyte Wisdom school respectively.

Beneficiaries shared their experiences on how challenging it has been to raise their children through school due to lack of finances.

A parent groaned as he explained how difficult it is for him to pay the school fees of his grandchild.

Another Yoruba speaking single parent with triplets expressed joy as her children’s fees got paid. In her words ” My husband abandoned me and my triplets,since then, I have been the only one taking care of them. It has been so difficult for me and I have my triplets in this same school.”

The program came to end in the compound of Whyte Wisdom School as Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, CPE, raised prayers, appreciating the almighty God for the success of the exercise.
