Salem University Kicks off Screening for 2024/2025 Admissions as New Programmes Set for NUC Verification

Salem University in Lokoja, Kogi State, has officially commenced the screening process for prospective candidates seeking admission for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The screening, which began on August 12, is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.

In an interview with The PUNCH, the Vice-Chancellor of Salem University, Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, stressed the institution’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high admission standards.

“There is no room for compromise when it comes to the admission of undergraduate and postgraduate students into the various courses offered by our six colleges,” he asserted.

The six colleges include the College of Law, College of Humanities, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Education, College of Information and Communication Technology, and College of Management and Social Sciences. Additionally, the College of Graduate Studies and the Pre-Varsity school are integral parts of the university’s academic structure.

Prof. Johnson-Akubo also revealed that seven new programs are slated for verification by the National Universities Commission (NUC). These programs are designed to meet the growing demands of modern industries and include Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Public Health within the College of Basic Health and Allied Sciences, as well as Cybersecurity and Data Science in the College of Information and Communications Technology.

“Salem University aims to produce graduates who are mentally alert, spiritually alive, and intellectually developed to positively change their world,” said Johnson-Akubo. He highlighted that all academic programs at Salem University are fully accredited by the NUC and meticulously crafted to address industry and professional needs, as well as the challenges of job placement in the labor market.
