Plateau College of Education Achieves Landmark Accreditation for 30 Academic Programmes

The Plateau College of Education, Gindri, has successfully secured full accreditation for all 30 of its existing academic programs.

This milestone achievement was announced by Elizabeth Aboreng, the college’s public relations officer, in a statement released on Sunday in Jos, the state capital.

Aboreng emphasized that this accomplishment, along with several others, has been realized under the leadership of the acting provost, Lazarus Maigoro.

She stated, “One of the greatest achievements recorded by the college in the last six months is securing full accreditation for the 30 existing academic programmes.”

The accreditation is expected to significantly enhance the quality of education at the institution, ensuring that graduates are well-respected and competitive in the labor market.

In addition to the accreditation, Ms. Aboreng highlighted other noteworthy advancements, including the approval to reintroduce the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Science, which had been inactive for over 15 years.

“Other achievements recorded are the full implementation of pending staff promotions and efforts to commence degree programmes that have reached an advanced stage,” she added. The college also made strides in addressing infrastructural needs, such as the acquisition of a 48-room building to alleviate student accommodation shortages and improving security within the host community.

Furthermore, the college has successfully provided potable water and ensured the timely payment of teaching practice allowances. “These and many other laudable initiatives were recorded in the last six months that Prof Maigoro assumed office as the acting provost,” Aboreng remarked.

In closing, she expressed gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his continued support and confidence in the acting provost, particularly for extending Maigoro’s tenure by an additional six months. This series of achievements marks a promising period for the Plateau College of Education, setting a solid foundation for future growth and excellence.
