Oyo TESCOM Chairman Announces 10% of Applicants Score Above 50% in Recruitment Exam

Pastor Akinade Alamu, the Chairman of TESCOM, has revealed that 10 percent of applicants who took the Computer-Based Test (CBT) scored 50 percent or higher.

This announcement was made during an interview on Fresh FM, Ibadan.

Pastor Alamu elaborated on the scoring and cut-off marks, emphasizing that the cut-off will be subject-specific and will be made public after the board’s approval.

“We conducted tests in 19 different subjects. Among the 65,000 candidates who sat for the examination, the highest score achieved was 86%,” he stated.

The TESCOM Chairman also highlighted the need for subject-specific cut-off marks due to varying numbers of applicants and vacancies across different subjects.

“We have to base this scoring on the general performance, but the cut-off recommended by the consultant is 50%. However, we have discovered that we cannot apply the same cut-off for all subjects because the number of applicants per subject varies significantly. Some subjects have a high number of applicants, while others have very few. Additionally, the number of vacancies and the performance levels differ across subjects. Therefore, we will not have a uniform cut-off mark,” Pastor Alamu explained.

He further disclosed that a total of 6,369 candidates scored 50% and above in the examination.

“The cut-off for any subject cannot be below 30%. The board will convene to review the performance on a subject-by-subject basis before finalizing and announcing the cut-off marks,” he added.
