Oyo State Students Celebrate Subsidized Transport Initiative Amid Rising Costs

As students across Nigeria face rising transportation costs, the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU), FUOYE Chapter, has announced a significant relief measure for those traveling from Ibadan to Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti.

In collaboration with the Oyo State Government, FOSSU has successfully negotiated a subsidized transport rate, bringing much-needed financial relief to students.

Under the leadership of FOSSU’s FUOYE Chapter, students will now pay a reduced fare of N9,000 instead of the usual N11,000 or more. This initiative comes as a welcome development for students grappling with increasing transportation expenses.

The arrangement is aimed at reiterating FOSSU commitment to easing the financial burden on students and fostering solidarity within the student community.

President Gold and Vice President Lyeemah, at are leading the charge in coordinating this initiative, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all interested students.

FOSSU encourages all eligible students to seize this “first of its kind opportunity,” emphasizing the importance of making use of the subsidized rates. Booking is open immediately and will close on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

The pickup is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2024, with the exact location to be communicated to all participants.
