Osun State Lecturer Sets Sights on World Record with 150-Hour Marathon Lecture

Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a lecturer at Foreign Links College of Health Technology, has announced plans to embark on a 150-hour marathon lecture aimed at breaking the world record for the longest lecture.

The event is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 23, and will take place on the college campus, concluding on September 30.

Dr. Akpan’s application to the Guinness World Records has been officially approved, with the reference number 240427100506lml. Currently, the record for the longest marathon lecture is held by Indian Professor Arvin Mishra, who lectured for 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds in 2014.

In a statement to journalists on campus, Dr. Akpan elaborated on the theme of his marathon lecture: “Relationships between man’s environment and health.” He emphasized that students from the college will be in attendance to engage with the lecture content throughout the marathon.

“I am attempting to set a new Guinness record for the longest lecture marathon 10 years after it was achieved in India,” Dr. Akpan stated. “The quest is aimed at giving back to the academic environment as I attempt to tell the world the consequences of abusing the environment by man.”

With a commitment to raising awareness about environmental issues and their impact on health, Dr. Akpan’s ambitious project seeks not only to set a new record but also to foster an important conversation about sustainable practices and the responsibility humans have towards their environment.
