Old Students of Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba reunite in style

It was laughter, hugs and goosebumps all through as the Old Students Association of the Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba met physically for the first time since the covid-19 pandemic began.

It was a reunion that was tagged “Friends Connect” and it brought back old classmates together with some seeing themselves for the first time in over forty years. Various sets across several decades were well represented at the event. An ovation was also given to Chief Mrs Cecilia Tukuru of the 1960 set.

A trip was also taken down memory lane as various sets came to give some of the experiences they had while in school. There was also a cameo appearance from one of the old teachers at the school, Mrs Ojo who came to join in the celebration.

The slogan of the association tagged “Stronger together” was evident as the event had some of the old girls in diaspora joining the event virtually, and they all lauded the efforts of the association’s executives. One of them, Mrs Helen Ekwueme praised the effort of the executives and admonished them to continue to uphold the values of the school.

The President of the association, Mrs Yinka Ogunde, then spoke on some of the matters arising during the meeting on the association’s plans to give back to their alma-mater. Suggestions were also raised on how to improve the well-being of the girl-child.

After the plans were laid out, a beautiful rendition of the school’s anthem was rendered by the 2000’s set and all the old girls joined to chorus the anthem. Subsequently, every set represented all rejoiced in thanksgiving at the gathering.
