Okowa, Diri partner on infrastructure, education development

The governors of Delta and Bayelsa states, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Douye Diri, on Tuesday expressed their resolve to partner each other in the areas of infrastructure and education development for the benefit of the people of the two neighbouring states.

The governors spoke in Warri, Delta State, during the commissioning of three major projects executed by the Delta State Government in the past two years.

The projects included newly constructed Ighogbadu Secondary School, Okumagba Layout, Warri, the access road from NPA Expressway to Warri Refinery and Petrochemicals and the reconstructed Ubeji access road in Warri South Local Government Area.

Diri, who performed the commissioning of the projects on behalf of the two governors, commended his Delta counterpart for prioritizing quality education and infrastructure development in the state.

Diri said, “Our two states share a common geographical terrain; we share same culture and we share same political aspiration. It is in this regard, therefore, that the need arises for us to continue to collaborate in all ways possible, to uplift the education and infrastructure development of our two states.”

He enjoined Okowa not to tarry in bringing more dividends of democracy to the people of Delta.

Okowa, in his address, disclosed that his administration embarked on construction of more blocks of classrooms across the state ‘with a view to saving the children the pain of trekking long distances before getting to school’.
