No going back on quality education for Nigerians — FG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his government’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in its drive to provide quality education for Nigerians as part of his renewed hope agenda.

President Tinubu, who spoke through the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs,  Rt Honourable Zaphaniah Jisalo, said that education remains one of the cardinal points of his government.

This is according to a statement released by Musa Wada, special adviser to the Minister on Media and Publicity.

Rt Honourable Jisalo, who represented the President at the 27th convocation of the University of Abuja, congratulated the graduating students and charged them to contribute their own quota to the nation’s development.

Speaking further, he said, “Quality education for all is a central target of the renewed hope agenda and the President is committed to hastening the delivery of quality education by implementing policies that will prioritise technological base learning resources, administration standards, and quality improvement.”

He however added that the Federal Government is proposing financial autonomy for tertiary institutions in the country as a way of promoting growth in the nation’s educational sector.

Rt Honourable Jisalo also maintained that the proposed autonomy was in line with the administration’s renewed hope agenda.

“One of the key strategies proposed in the renewed hope agenda is financial autonomy for tertiary institutions which will encourage universities to source funds through grants and corporate sponsorship, promoting self-sustainability and reducing dependency on the Federal Government.

“By granting financial autonomy, institutions can effectively manage funds to enhance competitiveness, strive for excellence in education, and eradicate educational disruption caused by the strike, and let me emphasize that this administration is resolute in its dedication to reforming the nation’s educational sector,” Jisalo was quoted as saying.
