Nigerian Student wins RISE Global Award

Naomi Ifunanya Marizu Obinwa, a valedictorian of Chrisland High School has won the RISE Global award.

The student who made straight A’s in all her papers in the 2022 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, was recently announced as one of the Schmidt Futures and Rhodes Trust’s Rise Global Award recipients. She is part of the five Global Winners hailing from Nigeria.

Rise is a program that finds brilliant people who need opportunity and supports them for life as they work to serve others.

The program starts at ages 15–17 and offers a lifetime of benefits, including scholarships, mentorship, access to career development opportunities, funding, and more as Global Winners work toward solving humanity’s most pressing problems.

For her project, Ifunanya created a website featuring blogs and videos from medical professionals explaining why healthcare should be important to her fellow Nigerians.

The young lady has dedicated her time to reducing inequality and discrimination in Nigeria
