NANS Demands Justice for Murdered Kwara Student, Urges Thorough Investigation

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of Mojisola Awesu, a 21-year-old student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology.

The association is calling for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible for the heinous crime.

NANS Senate President, Mr. Henry Okunomo, expressed the association’s outrage in a statement signed on Tuesday in Kano. The tragic discovery of Mojisola’s lifeless body at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, has sent shockwaves through the student community.

“We urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation, following all leads and ensuring that those responsible are brought to book,” Okunomo stated. He further criticized the lack of immediate action, saying, “The silence of the authorities is deafening, and we will not stand idly by while the lives of Nigerian students are treated with such disregard.”

NANS also called on the Kwara State Government to address the pressing issue of insecurity and violence in the state, particularly against students. “We call on the Kwara State Government to take concrete steps to address the growing insecurity and violence in the state, particularly against students. The safety and well-being of students must be prioritised,” the statement read.

In a show of solidarity, Okunomo added, “We stand in solidarity with Mojisola’s family, friends, and the entire student community in Kwara. We will continue to demand justice and push for a safer Nigeria for all.”
