Mrs. Ogunde Receives Award of Recognition from AFED

Members of Lagos District 1 of the
Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED) visited Mrs. Yinka
Ogunde, the founder of the Concerned Parents and Educators Network (CPE), on
the 7th of January, 2020, to present her with an award for her commitment and
love for the Nigerian child. This award is in recognition of Mrs. Ogunde’s
efforts to add value to teachers and students in Nigeria.

Leading the visiting party was the AFED District
1 Co-ordinator, Mr. Obafemi Richard, accompanied by the AFED National Vice
President, Princess Omoye A. Ikero. They expressed gratitude to Mrs. Ogunde and
her team for their visit to their district during the CPE’s campaign to lend
assistance to Low-Cost Schools in 2019. They also lauded her efforts under the
banner of the CPE to positively impact on education in Nigeria.

The award was well received by Mrs. Ogunde who thanked the visiting party. She went on to recognize and appreciate the efforts of members of the association which has made a positive impact on the education sector in Nigeria. AFED is an organization with members across the country which caters to Low-Cost Schools and the parents in very underprivileged communities where the children have little or no access to public education, thus depending primarily on what AFED has to offer in terms of support. She thus commended the group for their selfless endeavours to make a difference in their locale.

Princess Omoye, in response to these
words of gratitude, commented that all achieved was due to passion: to teach,
to give back to the Nigerian child, to make a difference. This passion gives
them the motivation to do more for these children whose parents are indigent.

Mrs. Ogunde then sought the assistance of the District 1 of AFED for the February advocacy programme by the CPE. This programme tagged “Save Our Future” is aimed at creating awareness about the state of the education sector in the country and make positive changes. Mr. Obafemi reiterated the District’s unwavering support for the programme.
