MAPOLY Radio starts live transmission on 99.7 FM

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has joined the comity of campus radio-licensed institutions in Nigeria, as the much-awaited radio hit the airwaves on 99.7FM.

The polytechnic’s spokesman, Yemi Ajibola, said in a statement that the terrestrial test transmission was initiated immediately after the installation of technical equipment of the campus radio on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

In his remark, the acting rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, said that the achievement was to create a platform for the Mass Communication students of the polytechnic to have a practical experience of how to make use of modern broadcast journalism.

He added that the realization of the terrestrial campus radio is a confirmation of MAPOLY’s webometric rating as the second-best state-owned polytechnic in Nigeria despite the obvious challenges.

Otunba Gbolahan Macjob, an alumnus of the polytechnic and ace broadcaster for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), United Kingdom, had launched and donated the online version of the radio on www.mapolyradio.com to the polytechnic.

This would enhance communication among MAPOLY’s ecosystem through educational and developmental programmes on both terrestrial and online radio to suit the audiences’ choice dually.

The institution had secured the license from the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to operate on 99.7 frequency modulation (FM) since 2015.
