LASU VC Urges Staff to Uphold Due Process in LACACA 2024/2025

In an interactive session held on Thursday, 3rd October 2024, at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Lagos State University (LASU) witnessed a strong call to action from its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.

The gathering, which took place in the Senate Chamber on the main campus in Ojo, was a critical assembly aimed at gearing up for the 2024/2025 LASU Central Admission Clearance Application (LACACA).

The session was orchestrated in collaboration with Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), who set the tone with a warm welcome address. Prof. Enikuomehin praised the Vice-Chancellor’s unwavering dedication and recognized the indispensable contributions of diligent staff members who uphold the university’s standards.

Addressing the assembly, Prof. Olatunji-Bello articulated the significance of LACACA within the broader admission framework, emphasizing its role in ensuring that candidates are seamlessly matriculated.

She plainly stated, “The use of proxies must be avoided.”

She emphasized the necessity for each staff member to take full responsibility for their tasks.

The vice-chancellor also reminded attendees that “all activities are logged in the system for accountability.”

Her address highlighted the critical nature of the clearance process, which serves as the final checkpoint before students receive their matriculation numbers. Prof. Olatunji-Bello urged staff to undertake comprehensive reviews while remaining time-conscious, reinforcing the importance of adherence to established workflows.

She stressed, “Maintaining the integrity of the process by avoiding preferential treatment or external influences is paramount.”

The vc directive aims to see the clearance process completed before the onset of academic activities on Monday, 18th November 2024, thereby ensuring that all cleared students are matriculated promptly.

She further instructed the Director of ICT to ensure the provision of adequate support for a streamlined operation, expressing her confidence in the staff’s ability to execute the LACACA process efficiently.

The session, attended by Deans of Faculties, Faculty Officers, and DICT staff, concluded on a note of appreciation with a vote of thanks from the University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu.
