Lagos State University (LASU) has once again secured its position as the best state university in Nigeria, according to the latest AD Scientific Index Ranking for 2024.
This accolade marks the third consecutive year that LASU has excelled in this prestigious ranking, further solidifying its reputation as a leading institution for higher education and research in the country.
The recent rankings reveal that LASU is not only the best among state universities but has also claimed the 10th spot among 174 public universities and the 12th position overall out of 237 ranked universities across Nigeria.
This recognition highlights the university’s commitment to fostering a robust research culture, a testament to the dedicated efforts of its administration.
In a related achievement, five esteemed professors from the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) have distinguished themselves in the latest Stanford Ranking of the Top 2% Scientists in Nigeria. The faculty members making this elite list include:
- Prof. Adejuwon A. Adeneye (Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics & Toxicology) ranked 157
- Prof. Idowu O. Senbanjo (Department of Pediatrics & Child Health) ranked 213
- Prof. Anthonia O. Ogbera (Department of Medicine) ranked 219
- Prof. Olumuyiwa O. Odusanya (Department of Community Health & Primary Health Care) ranked 220
- Prof. Olayinka O. Ogunleye (Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics & Toxicology) ranked 229
The Stanford University publication, renowned as the world’s most respected ranking, annually honors the most cited scientists, underscoring the significant contributions of these researchers to their fields.
Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the professors for their remarkable achievements.
She stated, “This recognition brings honor not only to the individual professors but to the university as a whole and particularly to the Lagos State University College of Medicine.”
