Lagos State University Fixes Date for Resumption

Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the resumption of administrative and socio-academic activities across its campuses starting Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

This directive effectively lifts the initial suspension of activities that had been in place since July 31 and August 1, 2024.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at LASU.

The university management’s decision comes after careful consideration of the current state of affairs and aims to restore normalcy to the academic environment.

“Members of staff and students are therefore expected back on campus on Tuesday, 6th August 2024,” the statement read.

The management also emphasized the importance of continued vigilance among the university community as they return to their routines, prioritizing their well-being amidst the ongoing protests.

The initial suspension was a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety of students and staff during the heightened tensions of the nationwide hunger protest. With this new directive, LASU aims to balance the resumption of educational activities with the ongoing need for caution.

The university community is encouraged to stay informed and adhere to any further instructions or safety protocols issued by the management. This resumption marks a significant step towards restoring academic and administrative functions, ensuring that educational pursuits can continue despite the external challenges.

This proactive approach by LASU’s management underscores their commitment to the academic progress and safety of their students and staff, reaffirming their role as a leading institution in navigating complex societal issues while maintaining educational standards.
