Lagos Organises Training for House Managers, Vendors to Ensure Safety of Students in Model Colleges

The Lagos State Safety Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students in the state Model Colleges, training house managers, food vendors, and other stakeholders in essential safety measures.

At the training program tagged “Safety Sensitization for House Managers, Food Vendors, and Stakeholders in Lagos State Model Colleges,” the Director-General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, emphasized the importance of prioritizing student safety, especially in boarding schools. Represented by Mr. Seun Awojobi, Technical Adviser of the Commission, Mojola noted that the government is working tirelessly to enforce strict safety standards and protocols in all schools.

“As a responsible government, the safety of our students cannot be compromised. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students to learn and grow,” Mojola said. He highlighted the crucial role of house managers and vendors in identifying potential safety risks and preventing accidents.

The Special Adviser on Education in Ogun State, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, spoke extensively on quality service delivery, emotional intelligence, student security, and crowd control in the boarding school system.

Also, Mr. Adeyinka Adebiyi, a retired Director from the Public Safety and Wellbeing Department, delivered a presentation on food safety, hygiene, and risk identification.

Further training was provided by Engr. Olukotun Odunayo and Mrs. Bosede Akanni from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, who educated participants on CPR, fire evacuation procedures, fire prevention, and the proper use of fire extinguishers.

In addition, Mrs. Soyoye Bamidele Oredola, Principal of Lagos State Junior Model College, Badore, addressed the importance of effective communication, urging house managers and caregivers to be good listeners and help students navigate their challenges.

Participants received training materials and safety signage to help enforce protocols in their respective schools. The initiative aligns with the government’s continued efforts to create a safe and secure learning environment for students in Lagos State.
