KWASU Prioritizes Excellence, VC Emphasizes Commitment to High-Quality Teaching Staff

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has emphasized that the institution is committed to attracting and retaining high-quality teaching staff.

This reaffirmation came during his official visit to the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Professor Jimoh highlighted the crucial role that teaching staff play in conducting impactful research, assuring them of the university’s support in providing a conducive environment for their scholarly activities.

“Teaching is the core mandate of any university; there must be lecturers with excellent knowledge on ground to teach the students,” he stated, underscoring the importance of quality education in shaping the future of students.

During the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of ICT, Professor Isiaka Aliagan, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and shared insights about the faculty, which was established in 2009 and currently serves over 7,000 students.

In another highlight of his visit, Professor Jimoh expressed his delight at commissioning a 3.5 KVA solar inverter system, a donation from the 2023/2024 set of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences Students Association (FMSSSA).

He noted that this initiative aligns with the university’s plans to establish solar farms for each faculty.

“This donation reflects the mantra of the institution—a University for Community Development,” he remarked, commending the staff for guiding students in making “such impactful and relevant decisions.”

The VC also praised the initiatives of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, pledging to provide support in areas identified as needing attention.

Dr. Shehu Usman Adam, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of the faculty since its establishment in 2023.

He noted that the solar inverter would serve dual purposes: providing electricity for a conducive academic environment and promoting sustainability.

Adam also shared that the faculty has contributed significantly to the university’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through innovative business ideas, showcasing the faculty’s commitment to both education and economic sustainability.
