Kwara State Unveils Comprehensive 2024/2025 Academic Calendar for Schools

The Kwara State government has officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, impacting all primary and secondary schools—both public and private—throughout the state.

This announcement was made in a statement from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, with details provided by Press Secretary Peter Amogbonjaye.

The newly approved academic calendar outlines essential dates for resumption, midterm breaks, and closing dates for each term, ensuring a cohesive academic structure that facilitates smooth transitions for students and educators alike.

Key Dates for the 2024/2025 Academic Session

1st Term:

Resumption Date: 17th September, 2024

Midterm Break: 31st October – 1st November, 2024

Closing Date: 13th December, 2024

Duration: 13 weeks

Holidays: 16th December, 2024 – 3rd January, 2025 (3 weeks)

2nd Term:

Resumption Date: 6th January, 2025

Midterm Break: 20th – 21st February, 2025

Closing Date: 4th April, 2025

Duration: 13 weeks

Holidays: 7th April, 2025 – 25th April, 2025 (3 weeks)

3rd Term:

Resumption Date: 28th April, 2025

Midterm Break: 5th – 6th June, 2025

Closing Date: 25th July, 2025

Duration: 13 weeks

Holidays: 28th July, 2025 – 12th September, 2025 (7 weeks)

Looking Ahead to the 2025/2026 Academic Session:

The statement further underscored that all schools, both public and private, are mandated to adhere strictly to the approved academic calendar. Any institution found in violation of these set guidelines will face appropriate sanctions. Additionally, boarding students are required to return on the Sunday preceding the resumption date for each term, with all national and public holidays to be observed accordingly.

This initiative by the Kwara State Government aims not only to streamline academic operations but also to enhance the educational experience for students throughout the state.
