“I AM NOT BLACK”

Though I was born African,

Raised and bred by my kin,

Doesn’t make me a living sin,

You might be born in another continent,

With a good government and lifestyle,

But that doesn’t make you clean,

You say you teach your children, love,

But you show them ways to hate me,

When I glow it means darkness,

With or without proof I am fraudulent,

But I tell you to repent of your ways,

For you risk killing my culture,

My ways, my dance and erase my picture,

On the sands of time, I still rise again,

For I am who I am,

The priceless jewel of my motherland,

The African child with no colour,

My heart, my swag, my future.
