HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD BECOME AN EFFECTIVE SELF-STUDIER.
Self study is the devotion of time and attention to gaining knowledge of an academic subject without assistance from a teacher or tutor. The benefits of self study are numerous. Self study helps your child learn more effectively, it boosts his or her self esteem and confidence, it helps your child learn at his or her own pace and it builds curiosity.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR CHILD SELF- STUDY EFFECTIVELY
1. Find resources on the topic: Help your child get reading resources on the topic he wants to study. Books, articles, and educational videos are all highly effective ways to increase his or her understanding of new concepts.
2. Talk about what your child is learning: Having a conversation with your child about what he or she is learning, and which topics your child is most excited about does magic. It helps to boost his or her understanding and
confidence.
3. Use different study methods: Encourage your child to try different study techniques, like reading books, watching educational videos, creating mind maps, or some other activity that helps him or her process the information.
4. Ensure your child has the required tools for self study: these include a reading table and chair, a computer (in case he or she wants to watch educational videos), writing pad, pen and highlighters.Being prepared is the number one secret to effective self study.
