How Emerald Schools rose to prominence

The Emerald School success story began in 1995 when Emerald Nursery and Primary School in Lagos was formed, and that resounding success was to be the beginning of greater things to come.

Seeking to answer the yearnings of parents in the primary school and the need to bridge the gap in providing high quality secondary school education in the country, Emerald High School was established in 2005.

The awareness of the problems of today’s child, which include a hostile society that has not much to offer by way of values/morals and cramped learning environment not helping the child to attain his/her full potentials, Emerald School took cognizance of the gaps in the education sector in deciding what facilities and personnel to emplace, right from the inception of the school, with a view to making a difference.

The school believes in building a solid foundation for the child, and as such goes to great length in emplacing holistic education programmes that incorporates best practices, striving to turn out students with passion for excellence and who have been adequately prepared for tertiary education and life.

With modern structures, quality manpower, conducive environment and adequate support services, good security measures, students’ performance enhancing programmes, co-curricular activities, foreign students exchange programmes, coupled with regular visits to places of educational and social interest, and a robust information technology platform where students and teachers interact through their laptops and wide range network to complement classroom delivery, Emerald school have put all in place to raise role models in its environs.

Some of its foundation students and subsequent graduates are doing well in their respective universities in Nigeria, Canada, US, UK and other countries. Some of its accreditations and affiliations cut across various renowned bodies including The Duke of Edinburgh’s award, Cambridge, SSAT, AISEN, APEN and many others.

The reward has been a rise to prominence brought by word of mouth of parents whose aspirations for their wards/children have been met. With continuous participations in interschool competitions with schools that have existed long before them, the records are there to see. This has been possible because of its continuous improvement approach to child development and the learning resources and infrastructure that is deployed.

Led by the Executive Director, Mrs Edna Obaze, the school is run strictly on sound management principles with clearly defined structures, systems and highly experienced teachers, staff and Board of Advisors, and the aim is to continue raising role models of its students home and abroad.
