The much anticipated School Business Roundtable event finally took place on the 27th of November with the event headlined “Internal Marketing: The key to School Growth”. Having witnessed the positives and negatives that could arise with School Management, Internal Marketing has proven to be at the epicentre for proper management, sustainability and growth of the school business in Nigeria. This was the core focus for the November edition of the School Business Roundtable. The event was also graced by some of the movers and shakers in the educational sector in the state, in a bid to make school owners and administrators see the need for Internal Marketing for a school’s growth.

Mrs. Yinka Ogunde speaking at the School Business Roundtable on “Internal Marketing: The Key to School Growth”, November 27th 2019.

Present at the event were several
educational facilitators, teachers as well as school administrators from several
secondary institutions and educational sectors in the state. The November Edition
of the School Business Roundtable was
insightful and knowledge-packed. It was spearheaded by Mrs. Yinka Ogunde who enlightened school owners at the event about
the need for creating visible goals, values, and norms which must be
internalized by both the internal and external components of the school
organization.

Topical issues such as “Internal Marketing Research” and “Internal Marketing Strategies” were
discussed extensively to make school owners realize that every school must be
on its toes in determining the public’s perception of their school. This would
involve adopting practical research tools such as questionnaires, occasional
newsletters and more to know what people really think about their school and
also to know the way forward.

Several grey areas such as the
orientation of the school staff about the Mission,
Vision and Value statement of a school organization were extensively dealt
with as such issues have led to the downfall of a lot of schools in the past. Issues
like “Is a side hustle appropriate for full-time teachers?”; “Why parents are
taking their children from your school”; “Is the vision of the members of the
teaching staff aligned with the school’s?”; and “How can school owners create a
perfect synergy between a school’s vision and what the public think about it?”
were discussed at the event.

The November School Business Roundtable was an atmosphere of ideas for cohesive
school growth in all areas by making Internal
Marketing
the focal point for the upthrust in School Management and Growth.

School owners and administrators also
learnt about the need for feedback in school business. This was one of the key
issues discussed with regards to proper Internal Marketing for
School Growth
. Feedback has proven to be the determinant for knowing
what people think about key issues such as the school’s teaching ethics,
values, educational quality and more. Without feedback through Internal Marketing, there would
communication break down between School Owners and the external public who are
the parents of the students as well as potential investors who could be
valuable to the growth of the school.

Successful School owners are learners
who keep adopting new innovative ways to grow, develop and attain new heights. A
host of school owners including Mrs. Akinyemi
(Dansol Schools), Dr. Bukki Fadayomi (Little Saints), Mrs. Grace A.O. Ogunseye among others
had a lot of knowledge and personal experiences to help other school owners to
do better and grow with proper Internal
Marketing.
