Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has announced his administration’s full support for the establishment of the Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences in Kaltungo, Gombe State. The governor expressed optimism that the new institution would significantly contribute to health education and professional development within the state and beyond.
Governor Yahaya shared his commitment during a courtesy visit from a delegation led by the Anglican Church, Diocese of Gombe, at the Government House. Recognizing the critical role that health institutions play in developing a skilled healthcare workforce, the governor affirmed his government’s readiness to partner with faith-based organizations and development agencies in ensuring quality healthcare resources for the state.
“The establishment of such institutions is a welcome development and a win for both the government and the people. Myself and the government of Gombe State will ensure to support the project, especially considering its potential to train our younger ones in healthcare,” he stated.
The governor also commended the Anglican Church for its dedication to peace, urging them to continue promoting unity across the state. Emphasizing his administration’s inclusive approach, he remarked, “Government in its own part is trying to cater for all irrespective of their religious, tribal, or sectional differences. That should be the spirit of true Nigeria, and that is what we stand for in Gombe State.”
The delegation leader, Rt. Rev. Cletus Ajigben Tambari, Bishop of the Gombe Anglican Diocese, praised Governor Yahaya for fostering a peaceful environment that supports freedom of worship and inclusivity. The bishop thanked the governor for the state’s infrastructure advancements, especially road networks, which he said illustrate Yahaya’s “pragmatic, purposeful, and people-oriented approach to governance.”
The bishop also assured the governor of the church’s continued commitment to law and order, pledging their support for the state’s development goals and expressing gratitude for the administration’s inclusive leadership.
